Inbox, sharing and privacy

This page covers how to share a screen recording, where recordings and demos arrive, and what your agent sends to Vidmatic.

Inbox

Your Inbox is where things arrive: recordings people share with you, and the demos your agent sends back. It is the first page you see after you sign in. Mark items read, delete them (with undo), or save one to your library. Items a person sent you are grouped under Important.

On a phone the Inbox is a list to read. Open an item to act on it.

Who can see it when you share a screen recording

A recording is private to your account until you share it. Your agent signs in as you to read it.

Ways to share

When a recording finishes, or later from the recording, you can:

  • Email it to someone.
  • Public link. Turn it on and anyone with the link can watch. You can turn on Require login to view, so visitors must sign in with a Google account, and Notify me about views, which emails you when someone finishes watching. Turn the link off to stop it working.
  • GitHub. Once GitHub is connected with a default repository, draft an issue from the recording. The issue links to the recording with a share link of the form /t/<id>?token=….

A share link with a token works for anyone who has it, signed in or not, for as long as the recording exists. Require login to view applies to the public link only. To stop a token link, delete the recording.

What your agent sends to Vidmatic

Vidmatic never reads your code. Your agent reads it on your machine. If you connect the GitHub integration, Vidmatic can open, read and comment on issues in the repositories you pick, and read whether a pull request merged and whether its checks passed. What reaches Vidmatic is what a skill uploads or writes: videos of your screen, and the text your agent writes into issues, workstream records and demo scripts. An explainer video shows and narrates your code; it stays in your Inbox unless you publish it. Text sent to Vidmatic may be processed by our language-model providers, as the privacy policy describes.

Your agent's access

When your agent signs in you choose an access level (see access levels). With the default level, your agent's demos follow your account's default (Settings → Demo videos; public unless you change it), and a skill's --publish / --private overrides it per run; record --init always publishes its test demo. Disconnect the agent at any time under Settings → Developer → Connected apps.

The original recording

Vidmatic never overwrites or deletes the original video when it processes it. Clips, crops and trims are separate files.
