Recording your screen
You can record two ways: a screen recording with annotations from the Chrome extension, or a plain one from the app. Your agent can read either kind; what your agent receives lists what it gets.
Screen recording with annotations: the Chrome extension
Install the Vidmatic Chrome extension and start a recording on the page that has the problem. Talk as you go. When you reach the problem, pick up the pen and draw: circle the wrong button, cross out what should not be there, or write the right value by hand.
Each mark is saved as an image at the moment you confirm it. When your agent reads it, it also gets the sentence you were saying at that moment.
Without the extension
Open Vidmatic and press New Recording. It records any screen or window you choose, with your microphone, straight from the browser. It can also record a timelapse.
There is no pen in this mode. Name the element out loud ("the third row, the Status column") and pause on it for a second. Your agent gets your words with their timestamps, plus a thumbnail of the recording.
Which to use
| Chrome extension | New Recording | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | Once | Nothing |
| Pen marks | Yes, each saved as an image | No |
| Voice and timed transcript | Yes | Yes |
| Can open a GitHub issue when you stop | Yes | Yes |
| Best for | UI bugs where position matters | Desktop apps, quick reports |
When you stop
Vidmatic uploads the recording and transcribes your voice. The next screen offers Give to your agent, email, a public link and your library. Once GitHub is connected with a default repository, it also offers GitHub and the change request queue. A timelapse has no audio, so it has no transcript.
Clips and GIFs
Open a recording to cut a part of it.
- Clip (trim): at least half a second long, with no upper limit. It is saved as its own recording.
- GIF: the part you pick must be longer than half a second and at most 30 seconds, and the finished GIF, after any speed change, is also at most 30 seconds. Speed 0.1x to 10x, frame rate 1 to 30 fps (10 by default), width 100 to 1,920 pixels (640 by default). You can crop to part of the screen.
Clips and GIFs never count toward your plan's recording limit. The original recording is never changed: every clip, crop and trim is a separate file next to it.
Limits
One recording can be up to 2 GB, and a timelapse up to 100,000 frames. The rest are on Limits.
